WHAT IS COVENANT MEMBERSHIP?
Church membership is not about formality – it’s about family! When you join North Side as a covenant member, you commit to joining a spiritual family who support and encourage you as we pursue the Christian life together. This spiritual family is bound together by a Biblical covenant – which you can read here.
WHAT IS EXPECTED OF A COVENANT MEMBER?
Covenant members are called to a higher degree of responsibility, service, and sacrifice. Basically, this means that you will:
attend Sunday worship gatherings regularly
join a small group of other Christians
leverage your time, spiritual gifts, resources, and funds to serve and build up our church family
FOUR REASONS TO BE A COVENANT MEMBER:
IT’S BIBLICAL
Christ is committed to the church. “…Christ loved the church, and gave himself up for her.” (Ephesians 5:25 ESV) Therefore, we follow his example in our sacrifice to love and care for one another.
IT’S COUNTERCULTURAL
In an age of selfish individualism, committing to the church speaks to our need for one another and it tells the world that we were made for community.
IT’S PRACTICAL
There is great value in having others speak truth and counsel into your life. Within the bounds of church membership, we know to whom we belong and who we can trust.
IT’S HEALTHY
Scripture gives major emphasis for the need of Christians to be accountable to each other for spiritual growth. You cannot be accountable when you’re not committed to a specific church family.
